Letter from our Chair of Governors

On behalf of all members of the Governing Board, I would like to welcome you to Willow Wood Primary School.

As a Governing Board, we work closely with our new Headteacher Mrs Robertson and her senior leadership team to ensure that our core school values of “Inspire, Believe, Challenge, Achieve” are embedded within our school ethos to ensure that our pupils become resilient, independent, confident and ambitious learners, who enjoy and celebrate success. Through this we ensure that all pupils are given the opportunity to reach their fullest potential, both academically and socially, and are part of a successful learning community that prepares them for the future.

Our Governing Body is made up of Parents, Staff, Local Authority and Co-opted members, each bringing with them to our school a unique set of skills and knowledge to challenge our senior leaders to ensure the very best education for our pupils. Apart from regular bi-termly full governor meetings, this is undertaken through our key sub committees covering Personnel, Finance and School Improvement, all chaired by well-respected and highly skilled members of our Governing Board.

We believe in setting an example to staff and pupils as role models and encourage Board members to visit school when they can and take up relevant training. These high standards are also enshrined into our own Code of Conduct for which each member of the Board signs up to when taking office as a Governor.

Finally, we also aim to attend as many school functions as we can, including parents’ consultation events as well as a monthly parental surgery, so if there are ever any issues you would like to discuss with us, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Yours sincerely

Paul Stewart

Chair of Governors
